huanghua port of chn energy, located at the dome of bohai bay, is an important hub port for coal transportation from west to east and from north to south in china because of its shortest coal transfer distance from shaanxi and inner mongolia.
with 17 coal berths, 4 bulk cargo berths and 1 oil berth,huanghua port has more than 200 million tons of coal launched and shipped to other parts of china to guarantee national energy security every year. the port has coal import and export about 600,000 tons respectively each day while corresponding storage capacity of only 4.6 million tons, which puts a high demand on its turnover rate. therefore, huanghua port has set up a 5g network technology innovation platform to achieve full coverage of 5g network in the operation area and completed the conversion of beidou positioning system, covering 40 individual devices with an accuracy of less than 1cm, so as to ensure the control precision and safety of equipment automatic operation. after finishing the intelligent operation of ship loaders in april 2020, the last section of intelligent operation, the port realized the whole process of intelligent coal operation in 2021.

"in order to realize the intelligent operation of loading machine, we use the ship machinery drawings to model the ship, and at the same time, develop the portable position and attitude surveying instrument to measure the position of the ship's characteristic points and get its attitude data. with the measuring results, we can convert the hull coordinate system and the dock coordinate system mutually to obtain the accurate data of the ship's hatch and obstacles, and then realize the automatic operation of ship loaders through the algorithms like path planning and trajectory control ," said a director of huanghua port information center.
at present, huanghua port has applied many innovative technologies including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data, 5g, internet of things to establish an intelligent production scheduling mode suitable for coal ports and started a new journey to smart port by building a port big data management and control platform to make efficient integration of port resources.
