recently, the china civil engineering society announced winners of the 17th tien-yow jeme civil engineering prize. dagangshan hydropower station of the dadu river hydropower development co., ltd. and the phase iii project of huanghua port company, both subsidiaries of china energy investment corporation, were listed among the 31 award-winning entries.
located in shimian county, ya鈥檃n city, sichuan province, dagangshan hydropower station has a total installed capacity of 2,600 mw, with single unit capacity up to 650 mw. the station鈥檚 dam is the only ultra-thin-walled arch dam on the dadu river, rising 210 meters at its highest point. the dam lies at the intersection of fracture zones on the southeastern edge of the qinghai-tibet plateau. considering the complex local geological conditions, the dam was designed to meet a seismic fortification level higher than that of any other high arch dam in the world. the hydropower station was commissioned in 2015.

the phase iii project of huanghua port, designed to have an annual loading and unloading capacity of 50 million tons, boasts 24 30,000-ton silos and four 50,000-ton specialized coal loading berths, capable of accommodating 100,000-ton bulk carriers. with advanced design concept, good engineering quality, outstanding dust prevention effect, high level of technical automation, and remarkable environmental and economic benefits, the project can greatly improve the handling capacity of the port.

the tien-yow jeme (zhan tianyou) civil engineering prize, named after the 鈥渇ather of china鈥檚 railways鈥? was established by the china civil engineering society and beijing zhan tianyou development foundation for science and technology in 1999. it is the highest honor for scientific and technological innovation in china鈥檚 civil engineering industry.
